This is a great idea with so many schools cutting extra curricular programs, I’m glad private companies and organizations are getting involved in helping these kids stay busy.

Music mogul Kevin Liles is kicking off a two-week entrepreneurship course at Morgan State University this week in Baltimore, Maryland.

Kevin Liles founded the Make It Happen Summer Business Academies, which is an educational program for 30 specially selected 10th and 11th graders.

The program provides economically challenged youth with the skills and tools they need to be successful in business and to eventually pursue a higher education.

“It is our responsibility to provide a platform for the next generation of leaders,” Kevin Liles told AllHipHop.com in a statement released today (July 27th).

“At the MIHF Summer Business Academy, we plan to provide young passionate teens with the tools necessary to be entrepreneurs, innovators and future CEOs of corporations,” Kevin Liles said. “In my continued efforts to make a difference, over the next two weeks participants will not only get educated, they will also get real time experience. I would like to thank my partners at LEAD and Morgan State University for believing in my vision and bringing the Academy to my hometown of Baltimore.”

The course and the curriculum was created by The Make It Happen Foundation, which Kevin co-founded with his wife Erika.

Current students enrolled in the program had to write a 500 word essay, in addition to being recommended by teachers for the program.

According to Kevin, The Make It Happen foundation will be expanding the business seminar 2 additional universities and educational institutions around the world.

Students will take field trips to local businesses, where they can see their studies being applied in real life settings, as well as to take advantage of networking opportunities that Kevin Liles and his company will present.

The Make It Happen Summer Business Academies take place  through August 5th, at Morgan State University in Baltimore.
